Japanese Parliament Passes Sales Tax Initiative

Japan’s parliament voted in favor of the sales tax gradual increase through 2015 with the aim of lowering the increasing deficit mainly due to rising social costs. Noda’s proposition of the hike materializes with an increase to 8% in 2014 from the current 5%, reaching the 10% target in 2015. Japanese Parliament Passes Sales Tax Initiative
